This fall, Gallaudet is welcoming 14 new F-1 and J-1 international students, including two new World Deaf Leadership (WDL) Scholars. Our new students bring with them different languages, cultures, experiences, and perspectives, and we are excited to welcome them to the Gallaudet community. Two new students wont be attendign Gallaudet this fall due to varying reasons
In addition, more than 10 international students in other immigration and enrollment categories are beginning their Gallaudet journey this fall.
Our two new WDL Scholars join two continuing scholars, bringing the number of World Deaf Leadership Scholars at Gallaudet to four, representing Ethiopia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Tanzania. The WDL Scholarship helps emerging Deaf leaders from developing countries pursue a Gallaudet education and prepare to make a difference in their communities back home.
Starting at a new university, and for many, in a new country, is a big journey. We hope our newest international students will quickly find Gallaudet to be a place of friendship, belonging, learning, and community.
If you see a new international student on campus, say hello, introduce yourself, and help us extend the warmth of the Gallaudet community. Sometimes a simple welcome can make a new place feel a little more like home.
From all of us at ISSS, welcome to Gallaudet! We are so glad you are here.
